BDO, the Philippines’ largest commercial bank, added a new feature to its online banking to make it more secure from hackers and other online threats – the One-Time Password (OTP).

On top of your BDO Online Banking user ID and password, users will be asked to enter an OTP which will be sent to their registered mobile phone number every time that they login.

The OTP is a unique 6-character code that will be sent via SMS each time that you login to your BDO Online Banking account. This will make your online accounts more secure because the system will not allow you to access your records without it.

Because OTP will be sent to your mobile phone number, it is important that your BDO Online Banking profile is updated and you have your phone with you when logging in to the portal.

If you have multiple mobile numbers, the system will show you the last 4 digits of the mobile number where the OTP was sent.

OTP will be rolled out starting today, April 27, 2013. To learn more about this new security feature, visit BDO FAQs.
