Known for being the social media capital of the world, the biggest social network Facebook opened its first office in the Philippines today, April 20.

Dan Neary, Facebook’s vice president for Asia Pacific, shared his excitement through his timeline for the opening of the social network’s local hub.

According to Neary, their “team has already been partnering closely with businesses – small and large – in the Philippines; and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to grow together with our partners here.”

Filipinos are very much glued to Facebook. More than 90% of the country’s internet population is connected to this social network.  This makes it easier for Filipinos to contribute and help topics become trending and viral.

Now that Facebook is already here in the Philippines to operate, Filipinos can expect more local contents and opportunities.
