g|Philippines, Google’s technology event, is finally scheduled this year from August 3 to 4 in Manila. As an offshoot of Google Day in other countries before, the 2-day conference will cater to business, government and marketing professionals, webmasters, developers, IT professionals and students.

This is the first time that the search giant is bringing the event in the Philippines. Also tagged as the first gDay in the country, this annual tech event will be held at the Asian Institute of Management Conference in Makati to introduce Google technologies to us Filipinos.
On the first day, the conference will focus on how businesses and the government can maximize Google products and services while the second day is for the academe (IT faculty and students).

Google has prepared topics ranging tentatively from Google Enterprise for Government, YouTube for Content Partners, MapMaker for Businesses, to Google Internships for Students.

Coinciding with the conference is Google Developers Group’s (GDG) DevFest Philippines which will happen on the second day of g|Philippines. With this event, local software developers will have the opportunity to meet and interact with Google executives and engineers.

Also, Google announced the launch of Google Apps Developer Challenge, a competition that will seek out the best new applications using Google’s Apps and Drive APIs which will run until August 24. Winners stand to take home a $20,000 prize during the awarding ceremonies set on November 12.

Google will only select and filter appropriate participants to the event. For those who are interested, you may apply for registration at this link. For developers who would want to participate at DevFest Philippines, sign up at this link.

g|Philippines 2012 is a free conference and is just one of the latest offerings of Google to broaden its reach and increase its presence in developing countries like the Philippines.
