GrabCar is now available in NAIA!

In an email newsletter sent to its users, GrabCar shared the good news that they’re now officially accredited by the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) to legally operate in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).  Grab is the first transportation network company (TNC) to be allowed to operate in NAIA.

Prior to the accreditation, Grab users and drivers are merely taking risks when booking and accepting passengers from the airport. As a workaround, drivers hide their smartphones so as not to be associated with Grab. Usually, these are internal agreement between the rider and the user.

Now that Grab has secured accreditation, both their operators, drivers and passengers need not to worry about being reprimanded by airport authorities.

There will be Grab booths available at designated areas at the terminals. Booking agents will assist interested passengers with or without their smartphones. This, according to the news, is to allow more passengers to experience Grab firsthand.

For everyone’s reference, you may refer to the following pick-up locations:

  • Terminal 1: Main Arrival Curbside
  • Terminal 2: Inner Arrival Curbside between Bays 7 and 8
  • Terminal 3: Secondary Arrival Curbside between Bays 5 and 6
  • Terminal 4: Curbside

Also, only GrabCar is allowed to operate in NAIA. These are the private cars that are registered with Grab to take up passengers. GrabTaxi, on the other hand, remains to be unauthorized to operate in NAIA.
