Hackers never run out of reasons in toying with websites of various schools and universities. The latest to be compromised are those of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and University of Perpetual Help System JONELTA also known as University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (UPHSL).

Anonymous Philippines’ X-m3n is responsible for the defacement of CLSU. The school is known as one of the “premier institutions of agriculture in Southeast Asia”. With more than a century of existence, CLSU has so many accomplishments as an educational institution to be proud of. Unfortunately, X-m3n is just laughing at the university’s way of handling their website’s security.

On October 8, 2018, X-m3n defaced the domain of the university including a number of its subdomains. A concerned student of the school sent us a message reporting the incident. X-Protocol, a Facebook page where X-m3n could be part of, posted the hacking incident the day after.  Exactly a week after the defacement, the vandalized contents remained up on the school’s website.

This isn’t the first time that the school’s website has been compromised. Zone-H records show that on August 13, 2008, CLSU’s website has been defaced by a certain DNS-Remoter.

Also posted on the Facebook page X-Protocol is the defaced website of UPHSL. SuperNinja of another hacking group called Purehackers is said to be responsible for the act. This one is quite fresh as the attack was only done today, at least, according to the reports that we’re seeing. It’s possible as well that the web administrators of UPHSL are not yet aware of this security incident as of this writing.

We will bring this to the attention of the respective IT personnel of the two universities so they can hopefully update the necessary patches that led to the defacements of these websites.
