Globe Telecom upgrades network deploying 3G, HSPA+, LTE, 4G technologies

Globe Telecom promises an improved and more stable network as the company boosts up its technical backbone. As per press release, the network rolls out its ‘massive network modernization program.’

Globe subscribers will no longer experience SMS and voice services interruptions saying prompts like ‘message sending failed‘ and ‘unable to establish connection‘ will be eliminated with this move to expand and solidify their network.

Globe signal will be consistent throughout the archipelago with the network’s wider 3G footprint. HSPA+ and long-term evolution (LTE), both of 4G technologies, will soon be experienced too making Globe’s mobile services more reliable.

Reports said that the network invested a total of US$790 million for Globe’s modernization project for the next five years. Initially, as Globe recently announced, the network deployed HSPA+ and 3G to its 6,000 base stations nationwide for the next two years.

“The network transformation program is definitely another milestone for Globe. The key to delivering quality products and services is having a strong, reliable and solid network infrastructure,” said Robert Tan, chief technical adviser of Globe. “With this modernization program in place, we are evolving to become a multi-service network enabling different platforms while keeping our customers always connected with Globe.”

Introducing 3G International SIM Card

I’m still thinking if I’m going to renew my Smart Gold line when the contract ends on January 2011. I know how competitive our local telecommunication companies are that I’m very much tempted to switch networks from time to time. But with regard to postpaid plan, of course I wanted to choose only the best.

Anyway, I’m happy to know that our mobile phone service providers are launching various promos to address their customers’ requests and needs. We have dozens of SMS and call promo packages and even data plan subscriptions. For roaming, Smart, Globe and even Sun Cellular have solid connections with other network providers abroad.

I haven’t been to any international trip so I can’t comment on their services when it comes to roaming aside from the ones they’re advertising. But as per research, I hope our local SIMs are like this 3G international SIM card.

Provided by MobilityPass, the SIM is very much complex that it can handle numerous mobile services for those who are traveling from different countries. Plus, they have cheaper rates for these services.

I’m thinking of getting one for my dad who’s working as a seaman. He’ll definitely appreciate this. What do you think?

Smart introduces Unlimited Brand via Red Mobile

Smart recently advertised it’s unlimited brand, the newly relaunched Red Mobile.

I know it’s kind of weird that the 3G-enabled brand turned into an unlimited mobile service provider. It only shows that the 3G introduction of mobile services was not as effective as compared to Sun Cellular’s marketing strategy of unlimited services.

Well, Smart now directly competes with Sun through Red Mobile by tapping the unlimited mobile market into something more economical and cheaper. As our local telcos continuously look for effective marketing strategies to reach our more customers, we definitely have to expect more innovations on our mobile technology.
