In an official announcement today, Apple finally introduced the successors of iPhone 5 – iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.

Comparing the two new iPhones with that of last year’s, they’re almost the same in technical specifications. All three display 4-inch, 1136×640, 326 ppi, run in A6 processor (except iPhone 5S which runs in A7 64-bit), have 8MP on rear camera and  1.2MP photos, 720p video for front camera, and support LTE connectivity.

Most notable in the recent announcement is iPhone 5C which has been making noises even before today’s event. Rumors speculated that the iPhone 5C is the “cheaper” iPhone. On today’s Apple event, the “C” in iPhone 5C actually stands for “color” as this cheaper iPhone variant comes in five vibrant and youthful colors –  Blue, Green, White, Yellow and Pink.

Initial comments to these colored iPhones compared iPhone 5C with Nokia’s Lumia phones. iPhone 5C is made of hard-coated polycarbonate shell and Apple exclusively offers sleeves for those availing it.

The iPhone 5C has two versions – 16GB and 32GB – initially priced at $99 and $199 respectively in the US. This phone runs in iOS 7 as well.

For Apple fans in the Philippines, there’s no official statement yet as to when are we getting these new iPhones though most likely we’ll get it in December along with other countries.
