You may have noticed that some Facebook Pages are now offering promos for certain brands but as a consumer, we have to be extra wary if these are legit or not.
Recently, we have noticed some of our friends sharing a promotion from Dunkin’ Donuts. The post says it’s giving away one free box of Dunkin’ Donuts as part of the company’s 70th anniversary. In order to avail of the promo, users are advised to like, react and comment on the post. They will then receive a coupon in their inbox that they will have to validate in yet another suspicious link.
Before joining these online promos, you have to do your own research.
First, the company just celebrated their 66th anniversary last year which makes 2017 their 67th.
Second, the Facebook Page that shared the promo isn’t even a verified page of Dunkin’ Donuts. The blue check mark beside the brand name will tell you if it’s a verified page or not.
Third, the website where you will be redirected to validate your coupon is not even the company’s official website.
It won’t hurt you if you’ll do a little research. Stop spreading scams like this. If you have spare time, you might as well report it to Facebook so they could do the necessary actions against it.
