In a Facebook post, the National Computer and Emergency Response Team (NCERT) of the Philippines officially announced the registration for interested participants in the upcoming capture-the-flag (CTF) competition. Dubbed as “Hack for Gov: CERT-PH Cyber Challenge 2019“, the cyber challenge invites college and university students to form their teams and register online starting today, December 4. The agency will only accept participants until the end of this year.

In the initial announcement, NCERT specifically required teams to form a group of four all coming from the same school or university. Female are students are also highly encouraged to participate.

The qualifier round will start in January 2019.

As of this writing, no other details have yet to be released about the competition but we’ll keep this post updated.

NCERT is a division under Cybersecurity Bureau of the Department of Information and Communications Technology. It is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and responding to computer security incident reports and activities. This division will also ensure that a systematic information gathering/dissemination, coordination, and collaboration among stakeholders, especially computer emergency response teams, are maintained to mitigate information security threats and cybersecurity risks.
