Uber_expands_in_Cainta_Antipolo_Taytay_San_Mato

Good news to Uber riders living in the east side of Metro Manila. The app now expands its operations to cover the areas of Cainta, Antipolo, Taytay and San Mateo in the province of Rizal starting today, May 2, 2016.

“At Uber, we are committed to providing safe, reliable, and convenient transportation to as many people as we can. After all of Metro Manila and Cebu, we’ll be expanding Uber’s coverage area to include areas east of Metro Manila,” from the email sent by Uber Manila Team.

The catch on this expanded coverage is that there will be a fixed P60 East Surcharge that will be added on the riders fare for trips going to the mentioned selected areas in the east.

According to Uber, “With the East Surcharge in place, we’re making Uber more available to riders headed east of the capital, while at the same time ensuring it is economically sustainable for partner-drivers who drive for them. This surcharge will only apply to trips that end in the newly-serviced areas.”

Riders who will be taking this route will have to enter their destination first on the app before hitting the request button for a ride. This will ensure that the chosen destination is indeed covered by the newly expanded Uber operation.

Uber did not mention when are they going to lift the fixed East Surcharge or if it will be lifted as soon as more riders chose to book via the app. Nevertheless, riders from the east will now have an additional option should they need a more convenient way to travel in and out of the metro.
