AshleyMadison_Philippines“Ang buhay ay maikli. Mangaliwa.”

The cheating website AshleyMadison.com has just launched their online service to the Filipino community translating their famous tagline “Life is short, have an affair”.

The Philippines may be a predominantly Christian country but recently, the public seemed to be really interested in talking about extra-marital affairs without any hesitations. Local soap operas tackling about this sensitive topic were huge hits such as ‘Temptation of Wife’, ‘My Husband’s Lover’, ‘The Legal Wife’, ‘Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real’ and the on-going primetime series ‘Two Wives.’

The target audience of the site are dissatisfied partners and curious but wild individuals. Upon registration, users will be asked of relationship status and preference to accurately tailor matches.

Also, one of the required information to fill out is the type of affair the member would want to associate with. Options include “something short term,” “something long term,” “cyber affair or erotic chat,” “whatever excites me,” “anything goes” and “undecided.” Similar to other dating and social networking sites, users can upload a profile photo, description and their ‘turn ons’.

Due to the nature of the website, Ashley Madison may soon face criticisms from religious groups such as the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

According to Christoph Kraemer, the company’s European communications director and spokesperson, they are open to discussions with the CBCP and that they even share “common goal” stating that the company doesn’t want people to divorce.

“Some say their relationship with their spouses improved after having an affair. It’s like the spark and passion were reignited. And it’s very telling that in its 12 years of existence and 30 million members, not once have [we] been been cited in a court case as a reason to get a divorce. We don’t endanger a marriage, we actually help save a marriage,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN.
