HP introduces new Slate tablet

Hewlett-Packard (HP) returns to the tablet race after recently unveiling Slate 2 Tablet PC powered by Microsoft’s Windows OS.

HP first joined the tablet industry when it released the consumer-oriented TouchPad. It was discontinued shortly after it’s launched when the company announced that they’re killing webOS.

On the other hand, Slate 2 Tablet PC is a “business” tablet made for mobile business users.

“HP is dedicated to the tablet PC category and continues to listen to customers and improve the product in ways that best address their business needs,” said Dan Forlenza, vice president and general manager of HP’s Commercial Managed IT Segment.

HP Slate 2 Tablet PC is a 1.5-pound tablet that features an 8.9-inch diagonal capacitive multitouch display for touch and pen input and has a new Swype keyboard. Initially, the tablet starts at $699 and will be available worldwide at the end of November.
