Sulit, the popular online selling website, has just been rebranded as OLX Philippines a couple of months after the Filipino-owned company became part of the OLX network. Sulit.com.ph is now OLX.ph!
OLX is an international internet company based in New York City and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Similar to Sulit, it offers an online platform for classified advertisements for free. As of this writing, the service is available across 106 countries in 40 languages.
OLX originally stands for ‘online exchange’ which is the very reason why Sulit is rebranding itself as such. In an official statement posted in OLX.ph, RJ David, founder of Sulit along with his wife Arianne, said “The objective of changing our name to OLX is to get the attention of every Filipino that now’s the time to make some changes of their own and join the millions of people around the globe like in India, Brazil, and Portugal, who have already used OLX to sell their things. The name change to OLX aims to inspire Filipinos to re-think what they know about Sulit, and to re-think what they have to sell online.”
Whether this move will make Sulit and OLX Philippines a better venue to post ads than their competitors, that we’ll have to see in the next few months. Both sites though are among the top online classified ads in the country.
