The website of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office (Region 7) in Central Visayas was hacked by a group of hackers called Philippine Cyber Security yesterday, February 9.
Based on the content left by the group, this attack is attributed to ‘Str4what Sanji’ and ‘Soul.PH’. If our records are right, ‘Str4what Sanji’ could also be the same Sanji behind the attacks to Philippine National Police Foundation, Inc. (PNPFI) and ABS-CBN’s NoInk last October 2018.
DOLE’s regional offices carry a page in the government agency’s official domain (dole.gov.ph). For instance, DOLE Region 7’s page is ro7.dole.gov.ph. However, the particular website that was compromised by Philippine Cyber Security is DOLE’s standalone domain for Region 7. It has a .org domain compared to the usual .gov.ph. We’ll try to reach out to Region 7 if they’re still maintaining the site.
Philippine Cyber Security did not touch the main page but did several defacements on its inside pages.
DOLE or it’s Region 7 office have yet to release a statement regarding this security incident.
