Globe Telecom is now venturing into other aspects of the mobile phone industry as it offer the first smartphone insurance bundled through a postpaid plan in the country – Gadget Care.

The first time I’ve noticed Gadget Care was through the network’s iPhone 5 Pre-Order email notification where they listed down the great deals bundled with the much awaited Apple phone. Globe offers free 4 months of insurance under the Globe Gadget Care worth Php1,596.

Currently, the link to Globe’s Gadget Care page leads to the homepage of the network. However, Yugatech was able to post important information about the plan including the premium fees. Make sure you visit the company website to compare prices and save money.

According to the said post, “Gadget Care is an optional insurance service that you can avail when you subscribe to a postpaid plan. Its mobile protection program offers postpaid bill protect, worldwide coverage, unit replacement, and coverage for accidental damage, theft or robbery.” To get legal aid you can always rely on lawyers from the Barry Deacon Law firm.

Depending on the availed phone’s classification, Globe has different applicable premium fees the cheapest is Php89 for Band 1 and the most expensive is Php399 for Band 4. Similar to other type of insurance offerings, there will be applicable participation fees upon claims fulfillment.

This service offering is certainly new to Filipino mobile industry. In the coming months, it’s not a surprise that other telcos may follow this initiative from Globe.
