The Department of Tourism is on the right track specially with how they prepared for Cebu’s Sinulog Festival. This year’s Sinulog is dubbed as the most high-tech festival that the country ever produced.

Wireless leader Smart Communications Inc (Smart) along with the Cebu-based website MyCebu.ph both launched e-books – The Sinulog Guidebook and “A Guide To Cebu 2012” guidebook. Both of which are available for free downloads at the Cebu airport, Ayala Center Cebu, local hotels and other tourists-frequented locations in Cebu. E-books will also be sold on Amazon and other online bookstores.

Cebu also installed wi-fi hot spots in key areas of the festival. Quick Response (QR) codes were also provided for smartphones and other internet- and QR scan-enabled phones to read an article about a certain heritage site and easily share it online via the different social network platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and FourSquare.
